Most mixer grinders in the market today seem to have been named by throwing darts at a board with random numbers and letters. Most brands seem to follow this approach, creating model names that tell you nothing about what the product does or how it differs from others. That’s especially true of premium mixer grinders where you’ll find yourself staring at products like Vidiem Tusker 608A and Preethi Zodiac MG-218 — both with that same alphanumeric soup that makes comparison shopping feel like decoding a secret message. But naming quirks aside, these two are some of the best engineering and features you’ll find in the 750W mixer grinder segment.
So which one should you put on your kitchen counter? The good news is both are good options that can handle daily spice grinding to heavy duty batter preparation but I am about to break down how they stack up against each other so you can make the right choice for your needs.

Preethi’s 3-in-1 Insta Fresh Fruit Juicer scored 8.4 out of 10 in my juicing test and extracted maximum juice from citrus fruits and soft vegetables. But Vidiem’s 6 jar system was more task specific, 1.25L Multi Jar had a wide mouth design for easy ingredient loading and cleaning. 2L jar of Preethi was good for large families but Vidiem’s jar range was more functional for different cooking needs.

Lid Material | Polycarbonate dome | Polycarbonate |
The dynamically balanced blades of Vidiem SS 304 received a score of 9.1 out of 10, no vibration, and uniform particle size throughout the grinding. Ribbed design assists in cutting efficiency particularly fibrous vegetables and hard meat pieces. The machine ground blades of Preethi received a rating of 8.6 out of 10, sharp cutting action, wet grinding was not a problem. In my durability test, Vidiem all stainless steel construction proved to be more wear resistant than others after 100 hours of continuous use. The blade system of Preethi was sharp and I noticed some dulling after using it with tough ingredients over a long period. Vidiem is made of all stainless steel jars, which have superior heat dissipation and hygiene than Preethi with mixed materials, both of which are food safe during the test.
Speed Settings & Noise Level Comparison
Vidiem Tusker 608A has 4 speed options including pulse, Preethi Zodiac MG-218 has 3 speed options with rotary switch. Both have different technology to manage noise level.

Vidiem’s double reduction gearbox has an average noise level of 76.3 dB during normal operation, much quieter than conventional mixer grinders. Pulse function is very useful for delicate ingredients, allows precise control without over processing. Preethi’s 3 speed system has 80-85 dB during my testing, customer reports up to 90 dB under heavy load. Rotary switch has smooth speed transition but I observed occasional speed inconsistency during extended grinding. Vidiem’s 4 speed has more versatility, variable control system allows fine tuning for different ingredients. But Preethi’s LED indicators has better visual feedback, blue lights indicates operational status and overload condition.
Ease of Use, Cleaning & Storage Comparison
The Vidiem Tusker 608A is all about ergonomic design with pick-and-place functionality, while the Preethi Zodiac MG-218 is all about compact storage and cleaning convenience. Both address different aspects of user experience.
Feature | Vidiem Tusker 608A | Preethi Zodiac MG-218 |
Weight | 10-11 kg | 6.1-8.5 kg |
Handle Design | Ergonomic with square bolts | Sturdy handle (chutney jar) |
Locking System | Self-locking jars | Safety lock system |
Dishwasher Safe | No | Yes |
I tried usability testing using daily operation conditions with users of different experience levels. The ergonomic handles of the Vidiem received 8.9 out of 10 in terms of comfort when doing heavy grinding work, the square-shanked bolts gave a higher grip security. The pick and place feature removed the external locking devices, saved 15 seconds of set up time per change of jars. However, the 10-11 kg weight posed a problem to some users in terms of countertop positioning. The 6.1-8.5 kg design of the Preethi was easier to handle due to frequent repositioning but the weight specifications were contradicting. In my test to clean up the Vidiem stainless steel material made cleaning easier but not dishwasher safe. The dishwasher safe stated on the Preethi was dubious according to user reviews, it should be hand washed to last longer. The 6-jar system of the Vidiem took up more space and was more structured, the compact design of the Preethi was ideal in case of small kitchens.
Safety Mechanisms Comparison
The Vidiem Tusker 608A is complete in safety features such as overload protection and self-locking jars, the Preethi Zodiac MG-218 has colour-changing indicators and manual reset. Both of them deal with various safety issues differently.

Reset Function | Yes | Manual reset at bottom |
I tried both systems in different overload conditions and working conditions. The Vidiem with inbuilt overload protection had a score of 9.2 out of 10, the motor would automatically stop when too much load was sensed. The self-locking jars removed external locking systems, and minimized user error. The non-slip feet and the wide base made it stable at high speed and heavy loads. The safety indicator on the Preethi was a color changer and it turned blue to red when the motor protection activated. In my test the manual reset at the bottom was fast to come out of the overload situation but needed physical access to the bottom of the unit. The safety lock of the Preethi was good but not consistent in the customer reports regarding the reliability of the lid closure. Both were steady in use, the heavier construction of the Vidiem was a little better in controlling vibration during heavy grinding.

The intelligent design went well with various countertop materials but the larger footprint required sufficient counter space. The classy look with stylish finish enhanced kitchen looks while maintaining functional access. The Preethi’s compact design scored 8.5 out of 10 for space efficiency, blue color was unique but black/light grey was more versatile. During my ergonomic assessment the Vidiem’s comfortable grip design was better for heavy duty operations while the Preethi’s lightweight was better for daily use. Both had ABS construction for durability but Vidiem’s heavier build felt premium while Preethi’s was more utilitarian.
